Senior House Democrat Meets Nevada DREAMers with Susie Lee, Promises Action on DACA

Last Friday, NV-03 Congressional Candidate Susie Lee (D) and U.S. House Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley (D-New York) held an intimate roundtable discussion with Nevada DREAMers and allies at UNLV. DREAMers shared their stories of life in America, and how DACA made their lives easier. Last Saturday, Former Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio accepted the “Courage Under Fire” award from conservative anti-tax activist Chuck Muth’s Conservative Leadership Conference. From the start, Arpaio’s planned visit came under fire due to his record in Maricopa County, and his controversial pardon from Donald Trump last month. Nevada State College Students and Faculty Walk Out in Support of DACA Students

On Monday, dozens of Nevada State College (NSC) students and several faculty walked out and gathered outside the Rogers Student Center in support of DACA students. They walked out to urge Congress to pass the DREAM Act to provide permanent legal protection for Nevada’s DACA recipients, and to reassure DREAMer students that the NSC community will continue to support them.
