Nevada State College Students and Faculty Walk Out in Support of DACA Students

On Monday, dozens of Nevada State College (NSC) students and several faculty walked out and gathered outside the Rogers Student Center in support of DACA students. They walked out to urge Congress to pass the DREAM Act to provide permanent legal protection for Nevada’s DACA recipients, and to reassure DREAMer students that the NSC community will continue to support them. “Your Bill Will Pull the Plug on Us”: Nevadans Call Out Dean Heller Promoting Trumpcare Bill

This Wednesday, U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R) reaffirmed his support for a Trumpcare bill that does what Heller himself vociferously claimed to oppose less than three months ago. Back in Nevada, local health care advocates gathered to debunk Heller’s spin and ask him to stand by his earlier promise not to take health care coverage away from any Nevadan. (more…)

Nevadans React to Trump’s DACA Decision

Today, Donald Trump decided to end the DACA program that’s prevented the deportation of 800,000 young immigrants… Though Trump had Attorney General Jeff Sessions make the announcement for him. In the hours following the announcement, Nevadans sprang into action and vowed to continue fighting until Nevada’s 13,000 DACA recipients and their families can finally live without fear. (more…)

As Congress prepares to return from its August recess, Nevada progressives gathered outside U.S. Senator Dean Heller’s (R) Las Vegas office on Tuesday to wish him a safe return to D.C. next week… And a happy retirement next year.
