As Goes Virginia, So Goes Nevada? Notes on the 2017 Election Results

Until now, there’s been a lot of speculation over how voters would respond to President Donald Trump’s actions and Congressional Republicans’ agenda. Yesterday, voters in Virginia, New Jersey, and other states provided some answers. One year after Trump himself won the Presidential Election, voters across the nation rebuked Republicans who campaigned on Trump’s platform. What does this mean for our own election next year? Senior House Democrat Meets Nevada DREAMers with Susie Lee, Promises Action on DACA

Last Friday, NV-03 Congressional Candidate Susie Lee (D) and U.S. House Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley (D-New York) held an intimate roundtable discussion with Nevada DREAMers and allies at UNLV. DREAMers shared their stories of life in America, and how DACA made their lives easier. Fight for 15 Activists Hit Las Vegas Strip, Demand Fair Wages on Labor Day

On Labor Day, hundreds of economic justice activists took to the Las Vegas Strip to demand fair wages and workers’ rights. They were joined by Members of Congress, local elected officials, and other progressive activists on a warm Monday morning. And they marched just hours before President Donald Trump announced his final decision on the DACA program some 13,000 Nevadans rely upon for legal immigration status. (more…)

Nevadans to Dean Heller: Enjoy Your Retirement

As Congress prepares to return from its August recess, Nevada progressives gathered outside U.S. Senator Dean Heller’s (R) Las Vegas office on Tuesday to wish him a safe return to D.C. next week… And a happy retirement next year. To honor Senator Heller’s many flip-flops on a number of issues, they threw a retirement luau party complete with flip-flops, leis, and some light beachside reading materials. (more…)
