Heller Strikes Out on Trumpcare with McCain’s Rejection of Graham-Cassidy

On Friday, the latest iteration of Trumpcare likely received its death blow when Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) announced his opposition to the bill. Just like his last-minute thumbs-down late in July, McCain’s opposition probably seals the fate of Republicans’ current push to repeal Obamacare. On Wednesday, Rep. Ruben Kihuen (D-Las Vegas) gathered with Former Nevada First Lady Sandy Miller and local health care advocates outside UMC Hospital in Las Vegas. Kihuen called on his fellow Members of Congress to reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which provides health insurance for some 25,000 Nevada kids as Nevada Check-up. Nevada State College Students and Faculty Walk Out in Support of DACA Students

On Monday, dozens of Nevada State College (NSC) students and several faculty walked out and gathered outside the Rogers Student Center in support of DACA students. They walked out to urge Congress to pass the DREAM Act to provide permanent legal protection for Nevada’s DACA recipients, and to reassure DREAMer students that the NSC community will continue to support them.
