Nevadans Protest at Adam Laxalt’s Campaign Kickoff in Las Vegas

At Brady Industries headquarters in Las Vegas, Attorney General Adam Laxalt (R) formally launched his campaign for Governor. Yet, before Laxalt himself could announce it publicly, his campaign was already making news by denying entry to various Nevadans. At the same time, people who were already protesting outside wanted to make sure those fortunate few who got to go inside the event remember what Laxalt has done for Nevada thus far. (more…)

Since then, Becker has been on the front line in fights to expand background checks and prevent dangerous weapons from falling into the wrong hands. After the October 1 shooting, Nevada’s gun laws received national attention, particularly a voter approved initiative that has not been enforced since the last election. We speak with Becker about not…

After Trump Moves to Sabotage Health Care Law, U.S. Senate Reopens Door to Bipartisan Health Care Fix

Less than a week ago, President Donald Trump issued an executive order to undermine the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA, or Obamacare) health insurance exchanges. He then followed that up with a decision to end the cost sharing reduction reimbursements that keep insurance costs low on the exchange. Yesterday, Senators Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee) and Patty Murray (D-Washington) announced a tentative deal to resume cost sharing reduction (CSR) payments. What might this mean for Nevada consumers? We hear from the experts on…

Trumpcare by Fiat: How Trump Is Trying to Derail the Health Care Law (and How Congress Can Stop Him)

This month, President Donald Trump has been rolling out a series of executive orders pertaining to the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. This law was an act of Congress that then President Barack Obama signed into law in 2010. Yet instead of respecting the law, Trump continues to sabotage the law with these executive actions that are designed to destroy America’s health care system. Can Trump get away with it? That may ultimately depend upon whether Senator Dean Heller (R)…

After Shooting, Gun Safety Advocates File Class Action Suit Against “Bump Stock” Manufacturers

Today the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence and the Las Vegas based Eglet Prince law firm announced their class action lawsuit against Slide Fire, the company that manufactures the “bump stock” device that was used in last week’s Mandalay Bay Shooting. The suit names other “bump stock” manufacturers as defendants, as well. They produce a device that had been considered a legal loophole to convert semi-automatic assault weapons into fully automatic weapons. This lawsuit will test the legal limits…
